GN ReSound Hearing Aid TV-Streamer+ with Bluetooth Auracast ( 3G22926500 )

Reviewed by: Peter Samwell

I previously had Signia hearing aids and I used a Signia TV streamer with them to improve the experience when watching television. It made a huge difference. When I recently changed to ReSound Nexia aids I wanted to continue with a TV streamer so searched for a ReSound model. First thing is that there are 2 models - the TV Streamer+ and the TV Streamer 2. I wrongly assumed that the model 2 was the latest model. Wrong! Some bright spark in their marketing department decided that the Streamer + would be a better name for their latest model rather than model 3. Grr! Anyway, having decided that I wanted the latest model I ordered it from Connevans and it arrived the next day. Excellent service. The device is tiny - about the size of a box of matches and it fits into the palm of my hand. In conjunction with the Smart 3D app it works really well - much easier to use than my Signia model. But there are a couple of gotchas. Firstly it is powered by USB and no charger is supplied. As long as a) your TV has a USB port or b) it's not being used by anything else that's fine. Mine is used to power my Amazon TV Fire Stick so I needed to find a mains plug with a USB port. No big problem but worth remembering. The second issue is more serious. The unit comes with RCA cables to use with your TV but also a Toslink digital optical cable which is my preferred connection. All TVs have such a connection and provided it is free then again no problem. But I use a soundbar with my TV and this connects via the Toslink socket. The previous streamer had an input and output Toslink connection so I could hook up both. But the ReSound has just one so I needed to purchase a Toslink splitter so that the audio signal from the TV could be received by both the sound bar and the TV streamer. ReSound should make this clear in their marketing information. But I am delighted with the unit and it is so easy to switch on and off and also adjust the settings. Highly recommended.
